Asobi Seksu at King Tut's 22 June 2007.

I won't translate the name of this band as this is a family blog. All the way from the USA, this Brooklyn based outfit caused a sensation at King Tut's on Friday night. At about four foot six in her boots, the lead singer, certainly lacked very little in the vocal department. They belted out a set of driving rock with a Japanese twist. My ears were ringing for days. Not content with the keyboards she finished off by giving the drums a good seeing to. A great live act.

Seasick Steve gets Mojo award.

A few weeks ago I was at the Seasick Steve gig at the Arches.
( See post 27 May )

Well, did he not go and pick up a Mojo award ?

I'm not in the least bit surprised. What a guy !

No Bull ! 9 June 2007.

Now I'm no expert of the land but even I knew that taking a shortcut across this guy's
territory might not be the smartest thing to do.

Quiet Sunday in the West End 10 June 2007.

Tens of thousands of people descended on Byres Road on Sunday for the start of the West End Festival. Part of the carnival parade included a living statue of the late Donald Dewar, complete with vandalised spectacles. For some, a grandstand view was order of the day but only with plenty of refreshment on tap. After refreshment comes a good feed and it looked like this guy was right into his "carry oot".

The Journey Begins 4 June 2007.

I get loads of people admiring the shot of my son at five days old on my web site.
www.greatscotphotography.com One mum decided to get the same of her newborn. Meet Charlotte, complete with wrinkles at the tender age of six days.

The Jackdaw of Neidpath 9 June 2007.

Tonight took me down near the borders to Neidpath Castle. The assignment? To photograph a party from Holland who were over on a visit to Scotland. Neidpath Castle is situated on a very beautiful stretch of the river Tweed. I had a picnic on the banks prior to their arrival. The minute I turned my back and to my astonishment, I watched this extremely clever feathered fiend helping himself to my grub. He was very wary of the camera and decided to take off with a plastic bag of cake in his beak. I had to admire him for his sheer opportunism.

Sheer Genius 3 June 2007.

Now I know that graffiti has been with us in some form or another for thousands of years and we tend to take it for granted but is this Glasgow's brainiest artist? Or is there some other deeper hidden meaning?
